And so we see our final sunset on the Monterey Peninsula and on at least this California chapter of the Clark family. It has been wonderful living here. We'll miss the friends we have made here and some of the great aspects of the peninsula. Quite a few people have had a major impact on our lives. And we leave with two more in our caravan than we arrived with.
Our apartment is eerily empty. There's next to nothing in the fridge and not even a spec of dust in the cupboards. The few pieces of furniture we've got are slotted for delivery to our neighbor tomorrow morning.
Today was eventful. Terence and Jess had their last minute dental checkups bright and early. Terence said goodbye to Language Line Services. Jess stayed home to make more progress on the apartment. We got together with Mike and Monique, some of our close friends here, for what Mike termed our 'last supper.' WE made one last visit to Asilomar Beach to bid farewell. And we finalized the packing of our car. The trunk is now packed full and sealed until Wisconsin barring a tire emergency and the interesting contraption we rigged to get a few last items back is secured to the trunk lid.
Tomorrow we head on to Reno, NV and get our first taste of road tripping with two kids. It's something we'll all have to get used to. They may not know it yet, but we're a road tripping family. We'll be headed up the 1 then over to 5 and across on 80. Non-kids estimate is about 5 hours. When we arrive we will be meeting up with our old friends who moved back to their home turf from Monterey as well. We've been to Reno a few times so it won't be new territory for us, but it'll be nice to see old friends in a somewhat familiar place as our first stop along the way.
See you tomorrow,
The Clarks

Terence and Jess,
You will miss the beautiful Monterey area and the wonderful gift of friends you have met there. Keep in touch with the people you have met and the places you have been. It will keep you grounded in life.
We are so looking forward to your next chapter in Wisconsin. We hope for your safe journey and for "well-traveling" children. At the very least it will be an adventure.
Lots of love to all of you,
Patty, J.D., Keagan, and Brady

Travel well and safe! Hopefully it won't be too long after you get to your destination that I may be able to sneak back and visit!
